SAOGA - our Uganda Oil, Gas & Energy focused Business Trade Mission

Dear Members & Industry Stakeholders,

We invite you to join the South African Oil & Gas Alliance on our Uganda Oil, Gas, and Energy focused Outward Business Trade Mission lead by (SAOGA). This exciting mission will take place from 21st to 25th April 2024.

SAOGA's primary objective, in compliance with local content laws in Uganda, is to delve into the remarkable projects and opportunities within the Oil, Gas, and Energy sectors and foster connections between South African companies and their counterparts in Uganda.

SAOGA is well aware of Uganda's strong ties with South Africa including participating in the Uganda State Visit last year February 2023, where both countries Presidents and other key Stakeholders spoke about Exploring Opportunities to Deepen and Expand Mutually Beneficial Trade Relations, including potential to capitalize on the AfCFTA & COMESA-EAC-SADC FTA and Unlocking mutually beneficial business opportunities in Energy and Oil & Gas sectors.

Uganda is on the brink of substantial economic growth. This growth is fueled by major initiatives, like the two significant projects in the pipeline: the Kingfisher and Tilenga oil fields. These projects are anticipated to yield tens of thousands of barrels of oil per day at their peaks. Additionally, the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) will facilitate the transportation of oil from Uganda's Lake Albert oilfields to the port of Tanga in Tanzania, where the oil will be sold in global markets. The upcoming development of the Uganda Refinery Project in the Kabaale-Hoima District is yet another reason for us to participate in the Ugandan Oil & Gas sector. These projects collectively represent an approximate foreign investment of around $15 billion, earmarked to be channeled into Uganda to facilitate their implementation.

Things are really picking up on the east coast of Africa and we best be there searching for opportunities than be left behind.
