12th International Heavy Haul Conference, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Welcome to the International Heavy Haul conference 2023

The International Heavy Haul Association (IHHA), in partnership with MRS Logistics railway, will be hosting its 12th International Heavy Haul Conference, on 27 – 31 August 2023 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Theme for this conference is: Application of Heavy Haul Innovations for a Sustainable World.

The conference will include presentations of technical papers in research and development areas in line with the theme and sub-theme. It will consist of a 2-day pre-conference Technical Workshop, 3 days of the Main Conference Plenary and Parallel Sessions, great social events and 1 day for the Technical Tour.

The 2-day Technical Workshop will feature international railway technical experts, who will present on selected topics within the railway’s best practices. The Technical Tour for delegates involves site visits to MRS Logistics Heavy Haul railway operations.

The conference will also offer delegates an opportunity to explore Rio de Janeiro. A Partners Programme and a great selection of Pre & Post Conference Tours and Day Tours will be made available, for those who wish to take advantage of their visit to Rio De Janeiro by making time for some sightseeing.

A Call for Abstracts has been issued, with more information on the Theme, Sub-Themes and Important Dates etc.
